Privacy Policy

Last Updated: May 18, 2026

📋 Introduction

Welcome to Message: Texting SMS Messenger ("the App", "we", "our", or "us"), developed and published by Magic Makers under the package identifier com.message.texting.sms.messenger. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being fully transparent about how your information is handled.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to all versions of the App available on the Google Play Store and all related services we provide.

By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please do not use the App.

Plain-language summary: Message is a local SMS/MMS app. Your messages stay on your device. We do not read, upload, sell, or share your SMS content, contacts, or personal messages with anyone — including ourselves. The only data we collect is anonymous crash reports and aggregate usage analytics to improve the app.

📊 Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to operate and improve the App. Here is a complete breakdown:

2.1 Information Processed Locally on Your Device

The following data is accessed and processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party (except as described in Section 5):

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the App, the following anonymous, non-personal technical data may be collected automatically by our third-party analytics and crash-reporting providers:

2.3 In-App Purchase Information

If you purchase a premium subscription or one-time feature unlock, payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive, store, or process your payment card details. We receive only a confirmation token indicating whether a purchase was successful and its associated product ID.

2.4 Advertising Data

If you use the free (ad-supported) version of the App, Google AdMob may collect information to serve contextual and interest-based advertisements. This may include your advertising ID and general device information. See Section 5 for details. You can opt out of interest-based ads at any time via your device's Google settings.

🛡️ Information We Do NOT Collect

We believe in radical transparency. The following is an explicit list of data we never collect, store, transmit, or share:

✅ What We Absolutely Do NOT Collect
  • The content of your SMS or MMS messages — your messages never leave your device to our servers, ever.
  • Your contacts list — contact names, phone numbers, or email addresses are never uploaded or shared.
  • Your phone number — we never collect or store your personal phone number on our servers.
  • Photos, videos, or voice notes — media files you send or receive in messages stay on your device.
  • Your name, address, or any identity information — we have no registration system and collect no personal identity data.
  • Your location — we do not request, access, or collect GPS or network-based location data.
  • Biometric data — fingerprint or face data used for the hidden messages vault is processed entirely by Android's system APIs and never leaves your device.
  • Call logs or call recordings — we read phone state only to detect active calls, not call content or history.
  • Hidden vault content — messages placed in your protected vault are stored locally and never synchronized or backed up to our infrastructure.
  • Device identifiers for tracking — we do not collect IMEI, MAC address, or serial numbers for tracking purposes.
  • Data from children under 13 — the App is not directed at children; see Section 9 for full details.

⚙️ How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we collect solely for the following legitimate purposes:

4.1 Operating the App

4.2 Improving the App

4.3 Serving Advertisements (Free Version Only)

4.4 Processing Purchases

4.5 Legal Compliance

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for automated profiling or decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you. We do not share your data with data brokers, marketing companies, or any third parties beyond those described in Section 5.

🔗 Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party SDKs. Each operates under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review. These are the only third parties with whom any data is shared:

Service Provider Purpose Data Shared Privacy Policy
Google AdMob Google LLC Displaying advertisements in the free version of the App to support development costs. Advertising ID, device model, OS version, IP address (anonymized), approximate location (country/region level). Google Privacy Policy
Firebase Analytics Google LLC Understanding how users interact with the App (feature usage, session length, screen views) to guide product improvements. Anonymous analytics ID, device model, OS version, app version, aggregated usage events. No message content, contacts, or personally identifiable information. Google Privacy Policy
Firebase Crashlytics Google LLC Detecting, diagnosing, and resolving App crashes to maintain stability and reliability. Crash stack traces, device model, Android version, app version, and a Crashlytics installation UUID. No message content or user-identifiable data. Firebase Privacy Policy

Data Processing Location

Google LLC is headquartered in the United States. Data processed by the above SDKs may be transferred to and stored on servers in the United States or other countries. Google participates in the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and employs Standard Contractual Clauses for EU/EEA data transfers. For details, refer to Google's Privacy Policy.

🔐 Android Permissions

The following permissions are declared in the App's manifest. We request only those permissions that are strictly necessary to deliver the features you use. Each permission is explained below in plain English:

Permission Why We Need It
READ_SMS Reads your existing SMS messages from the device's message database so we can display them in your inbox and conversation threads.
SEND_SMS Sends text messages on your behalf when you tap the Send button. Without this permission, the App cannot transmit any message.
RECEIVE_SMS Listens for incoming SMS messages so they appear in real time within the App's inbox without requiring a manual refresh.
RECEIVE_MMS Receives incoming multimedia messages (photos, videos, audio) and displays them inside conversation threads.
WRITE_SMS Saves outgoing messages and status updates (sent, failed, delivered) to your device's SMS database so your message history is accurate.
READ_CONTACTS Reads your device contacts to display sender names instead of raw phone numbers, and to suggest recipients when composing a new message.
WRITE_CONTACTS Allows you to save a phone number directly from a message thread to your contacts list without leaving the App.
READ_PHONE_STATE Detects when you are on an active call so the App can pause notification sounds and vibrations during the call, preventing interruptions.
READ_PHONE_NUMBERS Reads the phone number(s) associated with your SIM card(s) to identify the correct sending number in dual-SIM devices and for the virtual number feature.
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE Accesses photos, videos, and audio files stored on your device so you can attach them to MMS messages. Only files you explicitly select are accessed.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE Saves MMS media attachments (photos, videos, audio) received in messages to your device storage when you choose to download them.
CAMERA Activates your device's camera so you can capture a new photo or video directly within the App and attach it to an MMS message.
RECORD_AUDIO Records voice notes via your device's microphone when you choose to send a voice message in a conversation. Recording starts only when you explicitly tap the record button.
VIBRATE Vibrates your device when a new message arrives so you are alerted even when the device is on silent or in your pocket.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED Receives a system broadcast when your device finishes restarting so that any pending scheduled messages can be re-queued and sent at their intended time even after a reboot.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE Runs a minimal foreground service in the background to ensure reliable delivery of scheduled messages and real-time receipt of incoming messages, as required by Android's background execution limits.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS Displays message notifications on Android 13 and above so you are immediately alerted to new incoming messages and can reply from the notification shade.
USE_BIOMETRIC Authenticates your identity using your device's biometric hardware (fingerprint, face, or iris scanner) to unlock the hidden messages vault. Biometric data is processed entirely by Android's system APIs and never leaves your device.
USE_FINGERPRINT Provides fingerprint-based authentication as an alternative unlock method for the hidden messages vault on devices running Android 9 and below. Fingerprint data is managed by your device's secure hardware and never accessed or stored by the App.

You may revoke any permission at any time via Android Settings → Apps → Message: Texting SMS Messenger → Permissions. Revoking a permission will disable the associated feature but will not delete your existing messages.

🗄️ Data Retention

Data Stored on Your Device

Your SMS/MMS messages, contacts, media, scheduled messages, and hidden vault contents are stored on your device and subject to your own retention choices. You can delete individual messages, conversations, or your entire message history at any time within the App. Uninstalling the App will remove App-specific data; messages stored in the Android SMS database may persist depending on your device's behavior.

Analytics Data (Firebase Analytics)

Anonymous analytics events are retained by Google for up to 14 months by default, after which they are automatically deleted. You can find more information in Firebase's data retention documentation.

Crash Reports (Firebase Crashlytics)

Crash logs are retained by Google for up to 90 days, after which they are automatically purged.

Purchase Records

Purchase verification tokens are retained for as long as necessary to validate your active subscription or license, and for a reasonable period thereafter for accounting and dispute resolution purposes, in accordance with applicable law.

Deletion Requests

If you would like us to delete any analytics or crash data associated with your installation, please contact us at khokhartushar15@gmail.com. Please include your app version, device model, and approximate installation date to assist us in identifying your data. We will respond within 30 days.

🔒 Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously and implement multiple layers of protection:

Despite our best efforts, no security system is impenetrable. We encourage you to use a strong device PIN or password and keep your Android operating system updated to benefit from the latest security patches.

In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting any personal information we hold, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by applicable law within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach (where required under GDPR).

👶 Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at, designed for, or intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and certain other jurisdictions).

We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. The App is rated for users aged 13 and above on the Google Play Store in accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR-K).

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under the relevant age threshold has used the App and any personal information may have been collected, please contact us immediately at khokhartushar15@gmail.com. We will promptly investigate and, if applicable, delete any such information.

If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under the applicable age of consent, we will take immediate steps to delete that information from our records.
